About Our Company & The Changes We're Making

After 27 years in business, I want to explain where we're headed, why we're making changes, and what matters most to us.

Who We Are and Who We Serve

Hi, my name is Doug. I own this company and have owned it for 27 years.

I sell adult DVDs and some adult-related items. The business has changed in a lot of ways, but one thing is still the same: customers want to watch content. That is the part of the business that has remained constant.

What has changed is that we have customers with different needs and expectations. When you have different sets of customers with different expectations, you can't please them both with one website.

Many companies will make multiple websites and offer different policies, pricing, and shipping times. I'm one person, so we are only having one website.

This website is making its position clear. We are a website for collectors and large consumers of adult DVDs.

To understand why we are making these changes, I think it's important to explain how the DVD business actually works. There are two very different types of sellers, and understanding the difference will help explain why we operate the way we do.

How the Adult DVD Business Really Works

One Supplier for Nearly All New DVDs

There is one company that supplies virtually all the websites and retailers with new "studio" DVDs, the titles that are currently in print. They are one centralized supplier.

Most DVD websites simply take orders and send them to this supplier. The supplier either ships the DVDs to the seller or ships them directly to the customer.

Many of these websites advertise 40,000 DVDs, but they don't actually own or stock any of them. They're operating from home, often in their spare time. They take orders, forward them to the supplier, and that's it.

It's an easy business model that requires very little labor. They all offer essentially the same selection, and their prices are controlled by the same supplier.

Their biggest advantage is speed. They can ship orders quickly because they don't have to manage the inventory themselves.

The Difference Between Drop Shippers and Inventory Owners

Then you have sellers who actually own their inventory. That's a completely different business.

Managing thousands of individual DVDs is extremely difficult. Items get put on the wrong shelves, studios reuse UPC codes, and many titles have nearly identical names.

We've all dealt with sellers who can't find what they sold, don't ship orders, and don't answer emails.

Why Our Shipping Times Are Different

Our customers care about price and selection. We can't offer price and selection and then match the speed of drop shippers who all sell the same inventory. We have tried. It's impossible.

I collect baseball cards, and I have found that many customers do as well. I am sure most people know what PSA is. It's a card grading and authentication service.

At one time, they would slab your cards for $8 and have them back to you in 15 days. Now they charge $40, and they will have them back to you in 180 days.

We don't take 180 days, but we are going to be taking 5–10 days on larger, more complicated orders.

We Know What We Offer, and We Stand Behind It

We aren't interested in being compared to the drop shippers any longer. If you want to deal with those companies, then that is your choice.

We don't want anyone to buy from our site unless it's the best value for their money. If you don't see the value in what we do, you should find a company that fits your needs.  I will never shame anyone or guilt anyone into buying here.  Even if you don't buy from me you can still email me and ask me if something is real or a scam.  I'll still help you even if you don't buy here.

We are the best. I know we are the best. Nobody does what we do.

You have some guys who are drop shippers on the new stuff. You have some guys who sell the old stuff for $189 a DVD.

No other site is offering the pricing, selection, and expertise that we do. Most importantly, no website cares about the authenticity and value of your collection like we do.

Our Shipping Policies and Customer Expectations

I think it's important to just be honest with customers and say, "Don't try to get us to change our business model to match other companies, because you only want us the match certain parts of their business.  You can't mix and match the things you want in a business.   Its simply not fair to do that.   We are always trying to be better, cheaper, and faster.

We understand that customers have expectations. We know you want your items fast, and we do genuinely work tirelessly to get orders out as quickly as possible.

If you want speed, we have a link to get your order faster. Click here for that.

We heard you and we created an option.  We aren't a take it or leave it place.  We are always looking for solutions and also suggestions.

The Future of Quick DVD Delivery

We see a much greater focus on DVDs as collectibles. We see grading and authentication becoming a much bigger focus in the business, but we also see "value" becoming a bigger factor.

Bringing Value Back to Adult DVDs

I talked to the big evil supplier recently, and I said, "You are killing your own business."

I said, "Where is the value for the customers? The box sets are gone. The grab boxes of discounted DVDs are gone. Prices are going up every day.

What is left for the customer? They are getting squeezed to death. Do you have to squeeze every dollar out of every DVD? Where are the 'comes with a bonus DVD' offers?"

They have taken the value out of every item. They are also offering remakes of older, valuable DVDs without specifying that they are not original, essentially killing the value of your old DVDs.

I told them, "You keep doing what you are doing. We are going to offer alternatives."

We are offering value packs. We have some on the site, but we have more, and we are going to offer hundreds and hundreds of them.

We are going to create value for the customer. More content for your money.

Combining items together into bundles is how customers can start seeing value again. We have to reduce the labor required per DVD and give that back to you in value.

You will see all kinds of 2, 4, 10, 14, 20, and 50 packs on the website.

We offered some 50-DVD packs of reprints for $50, and we sold out in one day. This is the kind of stuff we are going to be doing going forward.

Making DVD Collecting Fun Again

Also, this is about fun. It's not fun to pay full price all the time. Finding a deal or a hidden treasure is fun. That has to come back.

All these sellers squeezing every single dollar out of the customer are just shortsighted. You can't do that to people. They will get burned out, and they will stop collecting.

Collectible DVDs, Authentication, and Grading

We see collectible DVDs becoming a much bigger part of the business, but it has to have standards.

Right now, many sellers are taking advantage of that and selling customers a recent remake at a slightly discounted price compared to the original when it's not worth anything at all.

The business needs authentication and a grading system, and we are offering both. We are offering grading and authentication on our own DVDs, and we will be authenticating DVDs for customers and other sellers.

If you are currently buying DVDs that are not authenticated, you better know what you are buying because we are seeing so many customers getting burned for big money.

Customers are spending hundreds and thousands of dollars on reprints that have no value.

I don't care about reprints, but don't sell a reprint for $50 and claim it's original or claim you don't know. You know.

27 Years of Running This Business

After doing this for 27 years, I'll admit some days I love it, and some days I want to delete the site.

That's an interesting thing. If you have a store, it will probably take you weeks to close it and pack it up. I could delete the site in 10 minutes.

I'm a real person. I get irritated, tired, and frustrated just like anyone else. Sometimes customers aren't fair or honest, and that is just part of life. Those are the exceptions.

What I have found over 27 years is that everyone is watching porn, but nobody is admitting it.

You have most people calling it harmful or saying that people who buy it are bad, but at the same time, they're consuming it like jelly doughnuts.

Our Customers Are More Than Just Orders

My customers seem comfortable with themselves. They are really good people, and I get to know them pretty well.

I know what so many of them do for a living. I know about their families.

Sometimes they even pass away. Those emails are not easy, and I get a lot of them. I get goodbye, thanks-for-everything letters.

I have gotten handwritten letters that I find in the mail well after they are gone.

It's very sad, but it's also very nice. The idea that some customers even thought of me at this tough time in their lives is so kind and humbling.

It makes me want to try to be more patient. Maybe take a breather when a customer might not word their email perfectly, and I read it when I'm tired or hungry.

Your Privacy Is Personal to Me

The point is that I feel very protective of my customers and their privacy because they are just being who they want to be.

It's nobody's business what they do or what they like. It's their business, and they trust me with that.

At the end of the day, that is all I care about. That people don't have to worry or stress out ordering here and wondering if someone will get their information.

Like how DVD Universe sold all their customers out to another company, and the customers never even knew.

That will never happen here.

We will never sell the company.

When I am done, we will just turn off the lights.
