#1 — Factory Sealed — Vintage DVD
Definition: A DVD we determine to be in its original factory wrapping based on provenance and physical inspection. Simply being sealed does not qualify an item as Factory Sealed.
Requirements
- The DVD must come from our own inventory, or from a customer who originally purchased the DVD from us.
- The wrapping and packaging must pass our physical inspection.
- The DVD must be a premium vintage example of the release, not a recent studio copy or lower-quality common version.
Does Not Qualify
- DVDs purchased by the customer from another seller or marketplace.
- Ordinary shrink wrap that we cannot identify as original factory wrapping.
- Items showing evidence of resealing or tampering.
- Items that we can't determine the provenance.
Specialty Exception
Some oversized or specialty releases used distinctive factory shrink wrapping. These may qualify when we can identify the original factory wrapping.
Batch Rule
A collection purchased back from one of our customers may qualify. If questionable items are found mixed into the collection, the entire batch is disqualified. The DVDs will be opened and sold as Unsealed.
Vintage Release Example
The item must be a premium vintage example of the DVD, not the cheap common version.

↑ Back to Classification Menu#2 — Factory Sealed — Active DVD
Definition: A DVD that is still in production or readily available new from the studio or distributor. Additional new inventory can still be purchased.
Requirements
- The DVD must come directly through a studio or distributor supply chain.
- Additional new inventory is still available to purchase.
- The DVD is generally available new from multiple websites or retailers.
Factory Presentation
The DVD may have folded-end factory wrapping, shrink wrap, or no wrapping at all. If the studio or distributor supplies the DVD without wrapping, that is still considered Factory Sealed because it is the original factory presentation.
Customer Collections
Once an Active DVD enters a customer collection, it will no longer qualify as Factory Sealed if we later acquire it. It will be classified as Unsealed.
Older Titles Still in Production
Many older DVDs are still being manufactured or remade by studios and distributors. These DVDs are classified as Factory Sealed — Active, not Vintage, even when an older vintage version of the same title is rare or valuable.
Value
Factory Sealed Active DVDs are sold at regular prices. The value of an Active copy should not be confused with the value of a rare Vintage copy of the same title.

Definition: A DVD that, in our opinion, is Factory Sealed based on provenance and physical appearance, and has been certified by us.
Certification
- The DVD is placed inside a protective DVD bag.
- The bag is sealed with a tamper-proof, serial-numbered hologram sticker.
- The serial number can be verified on our website and matched to the specific certified DVD.
- The certification allows the DVD to be bought, sold, or traded with confidence that we have determined it to be Factory Sealed.
What Certification Does Not Guarantee
Because the original factory seal remains intact, we cannot inspect the contents. Certification does not guarantee:
- The condition of the DVD inside.
- That the correct DVD is inside the case.
- That the DVD functions properly.
- That the DVD was not defective when originally manufactured.
Factory defects and incorrect discs are rare, but they can occur. Our certification does not cover these circumstances.
Factory Seal Value
The value of this classification is in preserving and authenticating the Factory Seal. There is both a reward and a risk to owning a vintage Factory Sealed DVD because inspecting or testing the DVD would require breaking the original seal.
Certification Removal
Our certification does not alter the DVD or its original factory wrapping. The protective bag and certification can be removed if the owner wishes to sell or keep the DVD without our certification.
Guaranteed Trade-In Eligibility
Our Certified Factory Sealed DVDs can be sold or traded back to us with confidence that they will receive our listed buy or trade price, provided the certification remains intact and can be verified.
