Unsealed DVD Certification

Quick DVD Delivery offers Unsealed DVD Certification for authentic, original collectible DVDs.

Our certification process examines originality, evaluates DVD condition, documents the actual items, and protects each component with individually sealed packaging.

FREE OPTIONAL CERTIFICATION OVER $35

DVDs priced over $35 qualify for free optional certification when they meet our standards.

What Qualifies for Unsealed Certification?

Only authentic, original early examples of a DVD release can qualify for certification.

Certification Requirements

  1. Original Cover and DVD: Both the cover and DVD must be original.
  2. Pressed Silver-Back DVD: The DVD must be a pressed disc with a silver back.
  3. Original Disc Graphics: The DVD must have cover graphics printed on the disc. Pressed DVDs containing only text cannot be certified.
  4. No DVD-Rs: Purple-back DVD-Rs are not accepted, even when the DVD-R was originally manufactured or distributed by the studio.
  5. No Reproduction Covers: A fake or reproduction cover cannot be certified, even when paired with an authentic pressed DVD.
  6. No Modern Remakes: Newer reproductions of original releases from Red Light, Legend, Zero Tolerance, Diabolic, and other studios cannot be certified.
  7. Red Light Silver DVDs: These DVDs can only qualify when they have a security-hole cover, with or without the security sticker.
  8. Original Early Release: Any DVD determined not to be an original early example of the release will not be certified.
  9. Cover Condition: Any DVD with a damaged cover will not be certified.
Authenticity and condition are separate considerations.

The DVD must first meet our originality requirements. Its physical condition is then evaluated using our five-grade system.

DVD Condition Grading

Each DVD is evaluated for physical condition using a grading scale from 5 to 1.

5

Grade 5 — Near Perfect

The only acceptable flaws are one or two tiny touches approximately the size of dust particles. Very few DVDs qualify as Grade 5. Even very few factory-sealed DVDs would receive this grade.

4

Grade 4 — Excellent Condition

This is the condition of most DVDs that have been carefully maintained or freshly removed from their packaging. Some signs of physical use, touches, and minor flaws are acceptable. No fingerprints, major flaws, or excessive amounts of minor flaws.

3

Grade 3 — Used Condition

The DVD shows wear upon first inspection and may have multiple major flaws. This grade covers a large range of conditions because once major flaws are present, the DVD is flawed.

2

Grade 2 — Very Poor Condition / Shaker

The DVD is massively flawed, with extensive scratches and other damage. This commonly happens when a DVD remains loose inside its case for an extended period.

Repeated movement creates a circular pattern of tiny scratches as the DVD rattles around inside the case.

A "Shaker" is a common term for a DVD that is loose inside a sealed case.

1

Grade 1 — Severely Damaged / Collection Filler

The DVD is simply trashed. It may have experienced extremely rough handling, such as being kicked around on a cement floor.

Any rental DVD receives Grade 1. Any DVD with writing or stickers receives Grade 1.

Grade 1 is a filler in a collection until a better example becomes available. It may be worth purchasing when a DVD is extremely expensive or rare. For a common DVD, there is little reason to purchase a Grade 1.

Original DVD Cases

Original DVD cases are discarded and replaced with brand-new, factory-fresh clear cases unless the original case has a specific collectible characteristic.

Exceptions for Original Cases

  1. Cases containing built-in lights.
  2. Cases with company-embossed printing, such as New Sensations or Platinum X.
  3. Cases with distinctive original weight, such as older Private DVD cases.

When an original case qualifies under one of these exceptions, that case will be separately bagged and certified.

The original cover will still be placed in a new clear DVD case.

Certification Packaging & Documentation

Every certified item is photographed, protected, and documented.

1. Photography

The front and back of all items are photographed.

2. Original Cover

The original cover is placed into a brand-new, factory-fresh clear DVD case.

3. Cover Security Seal

The cover case is placed into a protective DVD bag and sealed with a tamper-proof, serial-numbered sticker.

7. Final Protective Bag

All individually bagged and sealed components are placed together inside one larger protective bag.

8. Online Documentation
