DVD Conditions Rating them 1 to 5
These are guidelines for condition. How we assign grades.
If the DVD is over $20 the case will be mint unless stated. The cover will be mint unless stated. On cheaper DVDs, I'll be honest. We don't really care and the people you compete with don't care. If you are a serious collector buy a 100ct box of cases from Amazon. If you don't like the case you get, replace it. We are done bickering over 50 cent cases like its a peace treaty. Buy some cases. This behavior has gone on for years and its ridiculous. Its been this power play for years. "The case has as slight defect I want my money back. Don't buy them, someone else will.
4.5 – 5 (This is new. You open a DVD and turn it over. I have opened and turned over 100,000 DVDs. I know what it looks like and what it doesn’t. Every DVD is not perfect. Sometimes there are tiny touches. 4.5-5 complies the average condition of new factory sealed DVDs. Some will be perfect and some by having tiny touches.
4 – The DVD has some evidence of being played or more than tiny touches, but only under close examination. These DVDs may appear untouched at first glance. It doesn’t mean they were previously owned or “used.” We have no way of knowing what life this DVD has lead before it came to us on the day we turned it over. Some people have asked for a DVDs history like a Carfax. I ask you to stop and think about what you are asking, and to remember this is a DVD. Its not a human liver. While we want to be accurate lets all have some perspective.
3. This has flaws. Fingerprints, a scratch, multiple marks.
2. This DVD has probably been a shaker. Its been loose in the case and its shaken back and forth every time it was moved. The back of the DVD has become unpleasant.
1 – DVD has most likely not been kept in a case. It was probably a shaker and then it got worse. It’s the worst condition a DVD can be in and still play. If you just want the movie, then buy 1’s. I think condition is way overrated. But I don’t make the rules.
